Thursday, December 1st the London Recreational Racing Cup Series Powered by RoadLife took on the tight confines of Richmond International Raceway for the APC Auto Parts Centres 200. The final ‘regular season’ event of the 2016 season had drivers edgy and fans excited as many entered the evening unsure of their championship hopes and Championship Elimination situation. 7 drivers entered the night locked in on wins, while a few others were locked in by starting the race or already on points. Ryan Dyson and Trevor Roppolo were looking to lock themselves in with decent finishes while everybody else was on the outside looking in, in a must win situation.
The evening started with Circle Alliance Pole Qualifying which saw Ryan Dyson take fast time and the Pole Award with a 21.014 second lap. Qualifying has proved to be very important all season long, and drivers knew this, fighting for those crucial spots.
The race was as intense as anticipated, and featured all the ups and downs of a great race. Ryan Dyson led the opening 1/4 of the race before green flag pit stops cycled through with various drivers staying out and playing the strategy game. A caution before halfway for Carl Shedd getting turned set up an exciting 2nd half that saw Michael Laraia rise to the top with Shayne Therrien, Raleigh Grant Davis, Shawn Powell and Ryan Dyson behind. Pit stops between 60 and 40 to go spread the field out and allowed Laraia to score the victory with Therrien 2nd, Davis 3rd, Dyson 4th and Burk 5th.
